Cody Rhodes Gives Himself a Funny New Name After SmackDown Ends

After this week’s episode of SmackDown finished airing on TV, Cody Rhodes surprised fans by helping Jey Uso. Jey had just lost a Street Fight match against Gunther, who won by using a sneaky low blow—which was allowed under the rules.

Gunther looked like he might attack Jey again after the match, but Cody came out and saved his friend, chasing Gunther away. The crowd cheered as Cody stood with Jey in the ring.

While celebrating, Cody joked about Jey's brother, Jimmy Uso, not being there. He then laughed and gave himself a new nickname — "Big Jim Cody Rhodes" — as a joke.

“Where’s your brother? Why is Big Jim never here? I’ll be your brother! Call me Big Jim Cody Rhodes!”

Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena Set for SummerSlam 2025

Although Cody didn’t appear on the July 11 episode of SmackDown, he’ll be back next week. And not just for any match—he’ll be facing John Cena at SummerSlam 2025.

Next week on SmackDown, both Cena and Rhodes will appear, beginning their build-up to this huge main event.

The last time these two wrestled was at WrestleMania 41, where Cena won and made history by becoming a 17-time world champion. This time, fans are hoping for a better match and a big win for Cody.

With Cena now acting more like a villain, it’s unclear how things will play out. But WWE is planning a three-week build-up to make this match feel special.

Fans are excited and hoping that “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes can finally make his big comeback.
